Partnering with Title I Schools to Drive Student Growth: Huntington’s High-Impact Tutoring

Our mission statement at Huntington Learning Center is “to give every student the best education possible,” and we believe that every student deserves the opportunity for academic success, regardless of their zip code or economic status. Title I schools are at the forefront of that mission, working relentlessly to ensure their students have access to high-quality instruction. These institutions, alongside various grant-funded programs, aim to level the academic playing field, ensuring students from economically underserved communities can access academic support that they might otherwise miss out on.

High-Impact Tutoring: A Proven Model for Student Success

Research continues to affirm what many educators have experienced firsthand—high-impact tutoring, when delivered consistently and with quality instruction, leads to measurable academic gains. In Title I settings, where students often face additional barriers to learning, these programs can serve as a catalyst for both academic and social-emotional growth.

High-impact tutoring (also known as high-dosage tutoring) is characterized by:

  • Individualized or small-group instruction (1:1 or 1:3)
  • Consistent sessions (at least 3x per week)
  • Data-informed instruction aligned with school curriculum
  • Tutors trained in research-based instructional practices
A Trusted Partner for Title I Schools

At Huntington Learning Center, we’ve partnered with schools across the country to deliver federally funded tutoring programs aligned with Title I goals. Our experienced team collaborates directly with school administrators to design and implement tutoring solutions that meet ESSA Tier I evidence requirements and complement in-class instruction.

Case Study: Charles County Public Schools (MD)

In partnership with Charles County Public Schools, Huntington provided over 100 hours of math and reading support per student across six elementary and middle schools using Title I funding. The results were compelling:

Average Percentile Gains on Renaissance Star Assessment

  • Reading: +29%
  • Math: +9%

These outcomes highlight not just academic improvement, but also the potential of a well-structured tutoring program to build student confidence, engagement, and motivation—especially among learners who have struggled in traditional settings.

Streamlined Implementation. Real Results.

We understand the administrative demands of launching a tutoring program, especially in districts already managing staffing shortages and tight timelines. Huntington Learning Center offers a turnkey solution:

  • Federally compliant program design
  • Seamless coordination with school staff and district leaders
  • Certified tutors trained in the Science of Reading and evidence-based math instruction
  • Flexible scheduling to meet school-day, after-school, or summer program needs
  • Ongoing data reporting to track student progress
