Most students should begin testing in their junior year so that they can test more than once and decide which set of scores are sent to colleges or scholarship programs. Repeated testing without building both content knowledge and test strategies can yield lower results, which is why prepping with Huntington is important.

Each section of the ACT (English, Math, Reading and Science) is scored on a scale from 1 to 36. It is based on a calculated conversion of the raw score with how many questions a student has answered correctly in each section. The scores for all four sections are averaged to give the students an overall composite ACT score between 1 and 36.
The optional writing portion of the test receives five scores: a single subject-level Writing Score and four separate Domain Scores, each on a scale of 2-12.
The scores are based on the number of correct answers. There are no penalties for incorrect answers. Each college and university sets its own ACT score requirements for admission into that school. Check with the schools you are interested in applying to in order to determine the ACT score you need to achieve. You can decide which ACT scores are sent to prospective schools.
-
In general, most ACT multiple-choice scores, including the Composite score, are posted to your online student Web account (through ACT) within two weeks after the test date. If you’ve taken the writing portion of the ACT, you will be notified when that score is available.
