Kira Forster: Lifelong Educator to Franchisee

Share

When Kira Forster stepped into ownership of the Huntington Learning Center in Fleming Island, Florida, it wasn’t the beginning of her journey, it was the next chapter in a story rooted in education, service, and family.

Kira officially took over the center on August 15, 2025, after years of growing alongside the Huntington team as a tutor and assistant director. The center itself has served local students since 2016, and now, under Kira’s leadership, it continues to thrive as a trusted resource for academic support in the Jacksonville area.

A Family Legacy in Education

Born in Georgia to a Navy family and raised in a home where service and education were deeply valued, Kira’s love for learning started early. Her mother, a substitute teacher and social ministries coordinator at a local church, served as her earliest role model and source of inspiration.

“Watching my mom give her time, her energy, and her heart to students and the community made a huge impact on me,” Kira shared. “Now I get to continue that legacy through Huntington.”

Today, the Fleming Island center is a true family business, co-owned and operated by Kira, her mother, and her father.

From Tutor to Franchise Owner

Kira’s career has always revolved around education. She began working in childcare at just 16 and later went on to teach both middle and high school. She even taught astronomy and physics at a summer camp in Virginia bringing telescopes and hands-on learning to life for curious young minds.

After becoming a tutor at Huntington, Kira quickly moved into a leadership role as assistant director. Her passion for supporting students and families ultimately led her to take the leap into ownership.

“I’m new in my role as a franchisee, but not new to Huntington,” she says. “I’ve been part of this center for years, and I’m so proud to now lead it into its next phase.”

A Mission to Serve Students and Military Families

Kira’s short-term focus is simple: support the students already in the center with care, consistency, and personalized instruction. Long-term, her mission is to expand Huntington’s reach across the community, especially among local military families.

Located near a major naval base, the Fleming Island center serves many children who are navigating the challenges of frequent moves and new school environments.

“I was that kid,” Kira explains. “I know what it’s like to switch schools and have to start over. That’s why I make it a point to visit schools and meet with educators regularly. We want to be hands-on and show up as a real partner in education.”
