What’s Changing with Virginia’s SOLs And How Huntington Can Help

Starting in the 2026–2027 school year, Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOLs) are getting a major update—and these changes will impact students from 3rd through 11th grade. From a new scoring system to more rigorous academic standards, families across the state will need to adjust to a new way of measuring student success.

• New 100-Point Scoring Scale 

• • What’s Changing: SOLs will now be scored on a 100-point scale, replacing the previous 600-point system.

• SOL Scores Count Toward Final Grades

• End-of-Year Testing Window

• Retake Policy 

• • What’s Changing: Students may retake tests, but only the score from the first attempt will count toward their final grade.

• Transparent Score Reports
